Tareq and Michaele Salahi reprised the moment that made them America's best-known gatecrashers at a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman yesterday. The pair sidled up to the host during his monologue and pretended to pose for a photo before exiting the stage to cheers, the Washington Post reports. "See, it's interesting to me," Letterman quipped. "For all practical purposes, they're trespassing. But, the crowd goes wild!"
The Salahis—still under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security for crashing a state dinner at the White House late last year—offered the first couple an apology for the "series of misunderstandings" in an appearance on the Today show earlier yesterday, MSNBC reports. “Recently we saw Vice President Biden and President Obama speak at the correspondents’ dinner and joke about us," Michaele said. "That’s why we decided to come today. We thought if they could joke about it, maybe it’s time everyone moved forward.” (More gatecrashers stories.)
