Attacks on US Hit All-Time High

Attempted attacks against America have reached an all-time high, according to the Department of Homeland Security. "The number and pace of attempted attacks against the United States over the past nine months have surpassed the number of attempts during any other previous one-year period," reads the unclassified DHS memo. The document, dated May 21, predicts an "increased frequency" of assaults, reports CNN.

The memo, which makes specific mention of subway plotter Najibullah Zazi and would-be Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad, says trends indicate terror are interested in "more achievable attacks against easily accessible targets," and adds that US officials "lack insights in specific details, timing, and intended targets."
