Crime stories don’t get much stranger than this, folks: A woman was arrested in Utah yesterday after stealing a car in the nude—and the lack of clothes is barely the weirdest part. According to police, a man had parked his van on the side of the road to put up advertisements for his business, when the naked woman pulled up behind him, jumped out of her car, and into his. The man called 911 while—cue the Benny Hill music—jumping into the suspect’s abandoned car and giving chase.
The woman veered off onto a dirt road, and the car got stuck. By now police had shown up, so the woman got out and ran off on foot. The cops caught up and grabbed her, but she broke free, ran back, and stole their cruiser, driving it through a fence over a dirt berm. “She was airborne about 50 feet before crashing into another berm,” a police captain tells the Salt Lake Tribune. Police pulled the slightly bloodied 31-year-old from the totaled cruiser and subdued her with a taser. (More strange stuff stories.)
