John Stossel rails against big government and the endless array of new laws he says are ruining America. "We've become a nation of a million rules," he writes at RealClearPolitics. "Not the kind of bottom-up rules that people generate through voluntary associations. Those are fine. I mean imposed, top-down rules formed in the brains of meddling bureaucrats who think they know better than we how to manage our lives."
He runs through a host of examples, including kindergartners who got into trouble with their school's zero-tolerance policy against threats during an imaginary game of cops and robbers. "Congress creates, on average, one new crime every week," he writes. "Something's happened to America, and it isn't good." (More rules stories.)
