Following her N-word-filled tirade, Dr. Laura Schlessinger pulled the plug on her radio show…in the whiniest way possible. She wants to regain her First Amendment rights? Uh, then she certainly has “a poor grasp of what the First Amendment does,” writes Joan Walsh on Salon. “It protects us from government abridging our speech rights; it doesn't protect us from other Americans deciding we're racially divisive idiots when we use the word ‘n*****’ 11 times in a a single exchange with one caller.”
Schlessinger claims to be “contrite and remorseful,” but her “petulant whining” and martyr-like stance erase any sympathy Walsh might have been able to dredge up for her. “It's shocking how right-wingers once attacked the alleged ‘victim mentality’ of allegedly politically correct minorities, but now that victim mentality seems to be all they have,” she writes. “They're victims if they can't use the N-word freely, if they can't spew idiotic, divisive racial ‘philosophies.’” Click here for one opposing view.
