You would think that ex-Hewlett-Packard CEO Mark Hurd would quietly lick his wounds and live comfortably off of his $28 million severance. But no: Hurd is rumored to be in talks with friend, admirer, and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison about taking a senior position there, reports the New York Times. It's not clear what position, as Oracle already has Ellison as CEO and has two presidents who run operations.
Speculation centers on whether Hurd might run recently acquired Sun Microsystems. With his experience at cutting costs and R&D (and jobs) at HP he might be just the person to trim Sun's traditionally heavy R&D spending. Read the full article. (More Mark Hurd resigns stories.)
